What is your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?
I am the Founder, Brewmaster, Trainer, Managing Director of Brewsters Craft. Brewsters Craft is a company I started in 2015 which initially just focused on training and consultation. We started the brewery leg in 2018 and currently offer contract brewing services and accredited brewing training.
I got started in the craft brewing industry back in 2011 while I was still employed by SAB as the company’s craft brewer heading up Fransen Street brewery.
What’s new at your brewery?
We are constantly getting queries from people wanting to start their own beer brands. Helping create these new brands has been quite exciting.
What’s the best part of being a part of the South African craft brewing community?
I love seeing the subtle yet significant changes with regards to diversity within the industry. We are starting to be truly representative community.

Anything with meat.
What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?
Biggest accomplishment is having my 2 boys (10 yrs and 2) and raising them the best I can.
What’s your favourite beer from another brewery?
That’s a tough one.
I have a favourite beer from each of the breweries and not from just one brewery.
What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?
I love spending time with my family be it at home or going out.
What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?
Its more a dream travel destination… I would love to one day travel through the African continent and sample the various local traditional beers from the different countries and different villages.
