BASA Chairperson Announcement

As the Beer Association of South Africa celebrates its one-year anniversary, we bid farewell to Apiwe Nxusani-Malewa whose term as our first Chairperson of the Board comes to an end. We would like to thank Apiwe for her hard work and commitment in building and growing the BASA over the past twelve months. We are grateful for her tireless efforts to increase the credibility and visibility of the BASA and the beer industry as a whole in South Africa. We wish her the very best for the future, in particular, growing her own business Brewsters Craft. We also look forward to her ongoing involvement in the BASA as one of the leading brewmasters in the country.

We are also pleased to announce that Wendy Pienaar will be taking over from Apiwe as Chairperson of the BASA Board for the coming year. As Chairperson of the Craft Brewers Association of South Africa and co-owner and operations manager of Just Brewing Co and Hops End Brewpub, Wendy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. Her commitment to the development of the local brewer industry and improving the quality of South African brewed beer, also saw her coordinating Beer Boot Camp, an annual brewers conference that has been running since 2015. We would like to welcome Wendy to the BASA team and look forward to her fresh ideas and strategic thinking as we focus on facilitating the sustainable promotion and growth of the sector and differentiating beer as a product of choice for those that choose to drink responsibly.
