What is your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am an owner and brewer. I started with homebrewing and fell in love with beer.

Has Covid-19 and the lockdown had an impact on your brewery? If so, what impact and how have you responded?

We have had to retrench most of our staff and change our opening times. We’ve taken a step back, streamlined our offerings and are working to get everything back on track.

What’s new at your brewery?

We always have something new and interesting in the pipeline, now is no exception. Look forward to more special brews, including more sour beers.

What’s the best part of being a part of the South African craft brewing community?

The fact that it is largely a collaborative community.

Name your favourite food and beer pairing.

IPA and strong cheese.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Recently setting up a solar power system during the lock down with almost zero assistance.

What’s your favourite beer from another brewery?

Grimbergen Dubbel from Brouwerij Alken-Maes and the Westmalle Tripel.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Build stuff.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

I enjoyed the beers in the small town of Brugge in Belgium.
