What is your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

Owner and Brewer. I have always had a taste for beer and started homebrewing for fun. It soon became my passion and when the opportunity to purchase bigger equipment arose I jumped at it and went into brewing full time.

Has Covid-19 and the lockdown had an impact on your brewery? If so, what impact and how have you responded?

Yes, with the alcohol ban we had to shut down completely. Luckily we are a small brewery so we were able to push through.

What’s new at your brewery?

I’m working on a YNG GNS Stout, watch this space!

What’s the best part of being a part of the South African craft brewing community?

They are a great community. Always happy help out and impart knowledge and share tips.

My YNG GNS IPA with a Durban Curry.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

I used to pitch for the KZN Baseball Team, now I pitch yeast. Haha.

What’s your favourite beer from another brewery?

APA from That Brewing Co.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Socialise with mates, over a few beers.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Efes Pilsner in Istanbul, Turkey.
